Third-Party Plugin & Modding Policy
Last updated March 1, 2026
To ensure a fair, secure, and stable experience for our community, the use of third-party plugins, mods, or external software that modifies the game client or interacts with the server is strictly prohibited.
Discussion, distribution, or use of cheating, hacking, botting, game exploits, or any modding software that undermines the intended gameplay is forbidden.
Why we enforce this policy
Competitive integrity: Many third-party tools provide automated functions that grant players an unfair advantage. Mods that modify game memory or internal functions can also be used to facilitate cheating. To keep the competition authentic, we require all players to use the stock game client.
Security risks: Mods that access or modify game memory or files can potentially be used in malicious ways. To protect the integrity of both player and game data, any alteration of the game’s core files is treated as a security violation.
Server stability: Unofficial plugins often generate unexpected data requests or increased processing loads. This can lead to lag, crashes, or unintended behavior that negatively impacts the experience for everyone — even those not using such tools. Specifically, our data logging service, Sentry, gets flooded by errors thrown when a player is running mods.
Enforcement
There will be no retroactive enforcement actions.
Going forward, users found to be using unauthorized software, regardless of whether they intended to gain a competitive edge, may face disciplinary action, including temporary suspensions or permanent account bans. In cases where new mods or functionality is added that do not fit the terms described here, a grace period will be provided to ensure no one is unfairly punished.
Prohibited functionality
Specifically, mods that do anything of the following is expressly prohibited due to their potential to violate the previously iterated points:
- Modification of gameplay, game speed and flow of combat, including skipping combat — competitive integrity, security risk, server stability
- Calculating the results of or otherwise simulating combat — competitive integrity
- Commands that automatically interact with the client without user input — competitive integrity, server stability
- Functions that interact with the game’s server directly in other ways — security risk, server stability
This list is subject to change and is not intended to be exhaustive; other functions that also violate the spirit of this policy are included as well.
Acceptable functionality
Mods that are generally ok, but are subject to change, include:
- Display of information that is already publicly available through the game — for example, enchantment information for an item before you have enchanted it, or NPC loadout information
- Display of information local to the user — for example, match history, or showing the current time of your computer
- Other quality of life and accessibility features that do not modify gameplay or the game engine — for example, friends lists, or custom hotkeys
If you are unsure whether a particular functionality falls under the prohibited or acceptable category, feel free to reach out and ask.
